About

Executive coach Ivan Ang specialises in helping business leaders develop effective hybrid work weeks, prioritising their wellbeing first, including playing more golf. For Ivan and his executive golfing clients, golf becomes the catalyst to sustainable work energy throughout the week and a reward for completing important tasks early. While golf isn't for everyone, Ivan works with his clients to determine an activity that could be integrated into their work week to increase both wellbeing and personal effectiveness at the same time.

Ivan’s career started as a successful financial planner and he operated his own boutique practice before selling it in 2010 to pursue executive coaching and leadership development. Ivan was a Founding Partner of the John Maxwell Team and subsequently developed the "Leadership Signature Coach" program.

Starting and running both businesses by himself was not easy. Ivan would often be working long hours at the expense of his family. In 2015, the high levels of stress he experienced led to health issues, including a retina detachment that nearly cost him the sight in his left eye. His business began to suffer until Ivan was approached by The Commonwealth Bank to utilise both his financial planning and coaching experience to coach the Bank's financial planners. He did this for 5 years, including leading their national team of Advice Professional Coaches across Australia.

During his time working in the financial planning industry, he realised many in the profession were on the path to burnout due to extremely challenging business environments and compliance requirements. It was no different to when Ivan was running his own firm. But this was not unique to financial planners as many other executives and business owners faced the same work stresses. COVID shone a spotlight to the unhealthy ways of working and for many, they wanted a change.

Based on this experience and his work in coaching executives, prioritising wellbeing became paramount. Integrating his passion for golf, he decided to launch Executive Golfers Network and create a community of executive golfers who want to avoid burnout but also be productive and strike a healthy balance.
